Individual Bios

Ron Samsom is a drummer and composer based in Aotearoa. He is also the co-ordinator of jazz performance at the University of Auckland. He owns far too much windsurfing equipment and 5 drum sets…most surprisingly; he gets time to use all of it.

Dixon Nacey is a jazz guitarist, composer and producer who has performed as both leader and sideman, with many great NZ and international jazz artists. He also teaches jazz students at Auckland, Massey and Christchurch Universities and runs a successful jazz guitar tutorial website.

Kevin Haines (Bass)

Kevin has been playing the double bass for about 57 years. In that time he has been able to play with the cream of New Zealand Jazz musicians and also as a sideman with some of the great American jazz singers and instrumentalists. He has seen the growth of his two sons, Nathan and Joel as fine musicians in their own right and currently teaches at Auckland University in the Jazz course.
